Who are we??

Helen, Chris, Matt, Phil and Sam: basically a group of friends trying to raise money to support the charity Get A-Head.

Unfortunately, Helen was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer in 2004 when she was just 20 years old. You can read her full story here but basically she's the one who's inspired us to create this site and organise the ride. As well as being treated for cancer for the second time, she's been busily  organising a massive charity ball to support Get A-Head (see events page for details).

Below is some information on the Team who made the journey from Lands End to John O'Groats, as well as some terrific mugshots!

NAME: Chris Halshaw
DOB: 27/07/1983

EMPLOYMENT: Logica Intelligent Transport Systems
INTERESTS: Keen mounting biker and more recently road biking, complete petrolhead and into anything that goes fast! Also extremely adept at injuring myself!
WHY I'M DOING THIS: I wanted to do something to make a difference, that was a challenge and would take me out of my comfort zone. After becoming friends with helen i wanted to give something back and decided helping her with something that matters was the best way to do it. Plus i am skint and cannot afford to donate!

INTERESTS: Former Swimmer, now just a mad sports enthusiast, mainly American Football, rugby, soccer, cricket, cycling....you get the jist! The pub and being with friends also ranks highly.
WHY I'M DOING THIS: After meeting Chris and hearing about what he was doing, i thought i would join him with helping Helen and all those connected to Get-A-Head. Also, now the swimming career is far behind me, i need something to put my energy into, and a 900 mile cycle seemed like something that may pass the time!
